User reviews:
First, let me say again that this is a beautiful building. Withe open terraces, verandhas and the central court, it could be a fantastic place to stay. But it is run by a very motley crew. Dinner, my first two choices were "not available". My third, when it arrived, was undercooked chicken. I nibbled, ate some rice, and decided to give up on that. I asked for my bill. I asked again. And again. 20 minutes and I gave up and went through to reception and told them that if someone wanted the bill singing, I would be in my room. Throughout, I had been entertained by the deafening noise from the building next door - think Spring Break. Very very loud shouting on a PA and music. Went on until 11. Deafening outside, or in the bathroom. Next morning, bad attitude waiters for breakfast. Unhelpful reception. Went out for the day and decided not to stay the night so tried to check out ... but you are staying one more night ... no I am not - please prepare my bill. Goes to room, packs, returns to reception. See sir, you are not checking out until tomorrow... no, I am checking out now. For India, £135 for two nights b&b for a single is a high price, and certainly a lot more than the Metropole was worth.
It was a pleasant surprise. The room was decorated with some world class interior and furniture was attractive. The ambiance was lively and surrounding was peaceful. The staff was reliable and service was standard one. The food was awesome in taste. The experience was memorable one. It was a good hotel for the price charged.
Horrible service, none of the waiters or the manager is trained, they ask you to pay without providing you with a bill. I will never go back to this hotel!!!
As a Member of RCI i got a good offer from him and it is best and economical compared to quality and service provided by hotel. It really very nice.
I have not stayed here lately, but I stayed here for several days in 1994. It was very well-priced. The hotel looks like a victorian bungalow. There are wide open-air verandahs outside the rooms, claw-foot tubs, and ceiling fans. It is not fancy or very modern, but it was clean and I enjoyed the old-world ambiance. We ate in the dining room several times (mainly breakfast) and it was good. It was also nice to meet other tourists from several countries (mainly European) and compare our travel experiences in India. Based on my experience in 1994, I would recommend this hotel and would stay there again.
I stayed at many hotels in Mysore -- the Metropole was by far the best one. It is quiet (very rare in India), the room was nice, great indoor and outdoor restaurants, charming patio attached to the room. Very teasteful design.
What the Metropole has going for it is the atmospheric British-Raj bungalow in which it is located. Plus, the grounds are attractive with lovely palm trees and lush foliage. The locations is convenient to the railway station. The restaurant puts out a big buffet spread at breakfast and lunch; dinner is a la carte, and you can have it under the stars in the lovely garden. However, the Metropole milks its "heritage" for all it is worth. For a cramped double room in the Heritage Wing we paid Rs 6,160 (about US $ 120)--and for the trouble kept hitting the sharp corners of the bed every time we moved (ouch!). The roof over the corridor leaked when it rained resulting in vast puddles of water. The front-desk service was generally clueless. In short, I found the Metropole way overpriced.
Location was fine near the hotel. Rooms were clean and neat with comfortable bed. I like the food of the restaurant it was very delicious in taste. The staffs are very carrying and polite in their work. I would certainly recommend this hotel to my collegues and relatives.
Rooms are carefully designed to provide a relaxing and comfortable surrounding with modern furniture.
Room was poorly maintained, bathroom n toilet was not clean. Otherwise, staff service was perfect and food was great.
Nicely stay for one night at hotel Royal Orchid Metropole. Service was satisfactory and good for short stay.
Good stay at hotel.
Best and economical compared to room quality and service provided by hotel. It really very nice.
The hotel has good ambience and the rooms are comfortably sized. But the restaurant staff is particularly inefficient and not guest-friendly. Their attitudes are indifferent and they seem to consider the guest as an unavoidable evil.
It was an excellent stay in this property. The rooms were wonderfully decorated with modern style furniture. It was a old palace which was converted into a hotel. The ambiance was beautiful. The staff were willing to help us anytime. Also the food was fabulous in taste. We would love to visit this hotel in future.
The beds were not firm, got a back ache due to the two nights spent on them. Room service does not have Lunch options, I was asked to opt for the buffet instead of ordering it in my room. The food quality and taste was good which was the only saving grace. In fact the food was so good that I am willing to forget all the other drawbacks of this hotel.
Staff service was very good and the manager was also very helpful and prompt. Rooms had good interiors and were clean. It is a excellent place to live. The food was also very good of the hotel.
This is a beautiful building with open terraces, it is a fantastic place to stay. The next morning, the waiters in service for the buffet breakfast had good hospitality. The staff at reception too were very helpful. I must say it is a good hotel for short stay.
It was a decent property for a short stay. The room was average as it was not so well facilitated but staff was attentive. Food was also ordinary. As per the rates it was not so convincing but location was recommendable.
Nice hotel.
